Liver Biopsy

A liver biopsy involves removing a small sample of tissue from your liver so that it can be examined for abnormalities.

Several options exist and these include a percutaneous biopsy, transvenous biopsy or a biopsy performed under direct vision at laparoscopy. Liver biopsies are done in hospitals, mostly on an outpatient or day stay basis.
